What does clean energy mean to you?
In today’s world, the sources from which the energy is produced are polluting the world. They release harmful products which cause global warming and air pollution. Clean energy can also be reused. By this way we can avoid the wastage of energy. For a clean and safe society, it is essential to have clean energy which can be obtained from renewable sources like sunlight and wind. Clean energy is like clean air. The cleaner it is, the healthier and safer it is.
What interests you about clean energy and environment?
We use energy every day of our lives – our electronic devices require electricity for power, our streetlights need the same for lighting, our vehicles require gasoline and diesel. We fuel our homes with domestic oil, propane or electricity from a national or local grid for lighting, heating and for powering our devices. The places we work use computers, phone networks, security systems and servers, as do our shopping malls, parking lots, sports stadiums, cars, airplanes and so on. All of these things require power from fuel. To help the environment further and secure the future of the planet the coming generations, we need to move to renewable sources for our energy generation. There are many reasons for supporting clean energy. First of all, they’re clean. They are available everywhere, they are safe to use and they are not expensive. The environment becomes a better place to live when the energy we use becomes clean. Limited fossil fuels, carbon emissions, climatic changes, economic stability, environmental damage, public health and energy security urge us to use renewable and clean energy in our lives.
How do you think we can get young people involved in clean energy and caring for the environment?
First of all, creating awareness is important. Young people of today have strong moral values due to which conducting debates based on clean energy and a safer environment is helpful. Conducting clean energy school campaigns and educational tours help students to get involved in the matter quickly. UAE supports and hosts campaigns to support clean energy. UAE holds partnership with various schools which give opportunity for young adults for conducting camps and awareness walks so that the whole society comes to know about saving energy and using clean energy.
WHAT DOES CLEAN ENERGY MEAN TO YOU?
Clean Energy to me means the key to human survival. I believe that if we do switch, start looking or invest in efficient and reliable sources of energy, we are setting ourselves on a course for extinction. Clean energy is not an option; it is the only choice. Renewable energy obtained from resources such sunlight, wind, rain, waves, and geothermal heat is available to us naturally, so why not use it, when it is not only reliable but also healthier for our well- being and for the earth. Fossil fuels may seem like the best and easiest option but an over reliance on these fuels has major substantial risks and is not a long term resource to fulfill our needs.
WHAT INTERESTS YOU ABOUT CLEAN ENERGY AND THE ENVIRONMENT?
Seventy years ago, people never talked about pollution, climate change or global warming, but these issues are central to our generation, we are the ones who are facing the direct effect and it will be our children who will feel the full scorn of what we have done to our planet. This is why clean energy interests me, it is the only gateway to escape our planet’s retaliation. Clean energy sources like solar power, wind power, hydropower are abundant and have so much potential to be harnessed and this is the perfect time to focus on them because of the technological boom that we are living in. We need to take initiative and follow the example of Albania and Paraguay (100% from hydroelectricity), Iceland (72% hydro and 28 % geothermal) and Norway (97 % from hydropower).
HOW DO YOU THINK TO GET YOUNG PEOPLE INVOLVED IN CLEAN ENERGY AND CARING FOR THE ENVIRONMENT?
“We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors—we borrow it from our children”.
We are the heirs of the earth, we need to make sure that we are doing enough to protect it. Investing and promoting clean energy and caring for the environment is the first step. All of us get involved in a movement or anything in general if we understand its importance, consequences and its solution. Educating young people about the harmful effects of fossil fuels, how it could potentially lead to global warming and its solution is important or we will end up with people like Donald Trump who don’t even believe in climate change or global warming and consider it a hoax. School, being the root of education, the best way to teach students about the environment would take the initiative through school clubs, green projects, educational trips etc. Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” and in this case it can literally be used to change the world.
What does clean energy mean to you?
Mostly, all power plants or industries in the world work under a non-renewable electricity source like coal or nuclear. This causes major air pollution and severe health issues. To me, clean energy represents a sustainable and eco-friendly mode of using energy. Renewable energy also comes with unlimited resources and seed nearly no pollution. So, clean energy is a better option for us and the forth coming generation. Resources like wind, sun, water, etc. can be used to make clean or renewable energy. Instead of going for the non-renewable resource, we can reduce global warming and pollution by using clean energy.
What interests you about clean energy and the environment?
We usually go for the resources which are non-renewable and once consumed, we cannot get them back. Instead, we can go for the sources like sun or wind which are renewable and are more eco-friendly. The use of sustainable resources, generate no or nearly zero pollution. Clean energy helps our environment and its quality. It delivers better health and standard of life. The non-renewable resources like coal have been deposited in our earth for a long time and it will take even longer time to come back. The use of clean energy will reduce the pollution level, making our surroundings A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE IN.
How do you think we can get young people involved in clean energy and caring for the environment?
Our school is the best way to start because the students of all ages spend half of their day in their schools. It is the best place to get influenced and spread the awareness in their community or society.
What does clean energy mean to you?
We have evolved quite a lot in these past centuries; thanks to the technology and scientists but in our process to become modern, we have sidetracked our mother earth. Now that this earth is facing all kinds of problems such as pollution, deforestation, Global Warming, etc. We are regretting the natural resources we have destroyed. Now, the past is in the past, even so we need to develop in order for our race to go on and live a beautiful life. To do so, we need clean energy. Clean energy also known as “renewable energy” to me, is a way, the only way we can evolve without hurting our ever so precious mother earth.
What interests you about clean energy and the environment?
As we all are living on this earth, it’s a must that we care about it. We have a direct relationship with the earth, If it were to fall, then we automatically, unknowingly fall with it. So in order to save our kind, we need to save our mother earth. Without it, we cease to exist. It’s our duty as global citizens to do so.
We are in an innovative and developing age, we all want to get better each and every day. So clean energy is a way by which we can develop without hurting our earth, without using up all of its resources. It’s an interesting solution that solves our problems. Since the beginning of time, we adapted the best out of the resources, this earth has given to us so that we could survive. The environment has been like a shopping mall to us. All along we thought it was for free, but now we are realizing its worth. It’s never too late to mend. I think we could do a whole lot with the renewable resources. It’s really interesting to fight climate change and other problems with these solutions. What’s more interesting is the outcome we will get as life seems to surprise us every time.
How do you think we should get young people involved in clean energy and caring for the environment?
Nowadays the young generation loves to face challenges and are therefore competitive. So I think you should challenge them into doing so with their friends and close ones. You could keep some fun interactive programmes in every locality so that they could attend it, experience it and get involved.
What does clean energy mean to you?
To me, clean energy is all about providing for the needs of humans in a manner that allows for minimal effects on the environment. For example, using solar energy and hydrogen fuel cell to generate power has a very minimal effect on the environment, but it is able to provide for the needs of the people, unlike fossil fuels, which happens to be much more efficient but poses several risks to the environment (such as global warming) which could prove to be disastrous in the long run
What interests you about clean energy and the environment?
For me, it is about using technology to improve clean energy sources and about making it a more affordable, efficient and popular choice for and among the people. And it is also interesting when we think of the ability it has to reduce the extent of the damage on the environment and if possible, improve it.
How do you think we should get young people to get involved in clean energy and caring for the environment?
One of the main ways to overcome this hurdle is for us to be keen ambassadors of the environment and to spread awareness to our friends and family. We can also encourage participation in events, and activities organized to spread awareness of environmental issues, such as the ‘Earth hour’. We can also use social media as a powerful tool to spread awareness and encourage participation.
What does clean energy mean to you?
In simple terms it is energy derived from zero-emission natural resources that cannot be depleted. Clean energy or renewable energy are those resources that are infinite in quantity and sustainable for the future. It is the existing solution to so many problems our world is facing today; right from different types of pollution, to global warming and climate change.
What interests you about clean energy and the environment?
I think it is very important to talk and be aware of clean energy resources because it benefits our economies, climatic conditions and most importantly our health. It can help reverse some of the impacts of increased human activities on the environment and conserve our planet for the future. Ignorance to the consequences of exploiting non-renewable resources, is what is deteriorating the condition of Earth today. If we can show even one person that there is a more reliable, resilient energy system, that is cost efficient, can provide jobs, improve public health, as well as the health of our Mother Earth, that on its own can make the biggest impact in converting the people to clean energy use.
How do you think we should get young people to get involved in clean energy and caring for the environment?
Young people are key for a sustainable tomorrow as the present and future of the environment is in our hands. Awareness is essential; through school campaigns and international environment conferences to taking home what is learned about renewable resources. If students are taught that they are responsible for the footprint they leave on our home, they will understand why it is important to save it and will try to ensure to not make the same mistakes of over exploiting the bounties of the planet. Our planet is our home and our responsibility
What does clean energy mean to you?
It means the future. Current energy sources are not sustainable, they pollute the environment by releasing greenhouse gases which leads to climate change. This has many damaging effects on people and it is in my best interests to understand how changes can be made to make sure that myself and future generations will not be affected by these changes.
What interests you about clean energy and the environment?
The different methods of energy production. It is very interesting to me how different forms of energy on the planet can be used to generate electricity. It is also intriguing how significantly these forms of clean energy can improve the environment if they are implemented in large numbers around the world.
How do you think we should get young people to get involved in clean energy and caring for the environment?
By teaching them at a young age about the negative effects of climate change. Once they are aware of the dangers that they might have to face in their lifetime, they will have a better understanding of the situation they might find themselves in which might motivate them to try and make a difference for themselves and the people around them.
What does clean energy mean to you?
Very simply, clean energy supports a sustainable future; the future our children, grandchildren, and their children will someday live in. With our current sources of energy attributing to toxic buildup, pollution and global warming, the use of clean energy is, in comparison, energy efficient, can be economically developmental and offer greater price stability. To me, clean energy means a safer, healthier world, one which is reliable with reduced environmental impacts.
What interests you about clean energy and the environment?
Using clean energy sources and protecting the environment should be a core vocation of every person. After all, it is our Earth. More than interest, what strikes me is fear. Fear that we are drawing our planet to ruins because of our ignorance. As a human race, we have the potential to behave in ways that can better our Earth, yet we choose not to. The fact that harmful methods are being used, in spite of sustainable ones being available, is what urges me to stand for this cause.
How do you think we should get young people to get involved in clean energy and caring for the environment?
Education is key. I believe that if the youth were more aware of the impacts of their actions, they wouldn’t be so mindless about the environment. Directly displaying the results of their actions would also prove to be beneficial. Furthermore, much like our school, other schools should also encourage students to take initiatives that would encourage curiosity amongst peers about the environment and what can be done to save it.
What does clean energy mean to you?
The term energy is used to refer to resources that are extracted or man-built in order to utilize for daily purposes or to work machines. Clean energy is resources that are renewable and does not have a direct negative fact on us or the Earth.
What interests you about clean energy and the environment?
I find it astonishing that we have been able to produce and utilize clean energy resources efficiently and effectively. With extensive knowledge, individuals continue to introduce fresh and mind altering ideas that may have an incredible outcome specially in relation to the future of the earth’s natural resources.
How do you think we should get young people to get involved in clean energy and caring for the environment?
I believe they haven’t yet been exposed to the result and negative consequence that non- renewable resources have had on us.
The idea of living in a country where everything is readily and easily catered to and available overpowers the idea of us having to worry about our progress in preserving our resources
Awareness Campaigns and initiatives can be set up in order to educate the young people.
We must unite students and encourage them to work together to develop ideas that may be a (clean energy) solution to problems that they identify personally.
This could be held as a workshop.
Conservation leaders amongst students must be identified in school to further enhance the idea of clean energy and schools must focus on implementing clean energy ideas within their curriculum.
Utilize biodegradable items in schools and anywhere possible.
Exciting assignments should be handed to groups or individuals participating from schools to enforce clean energy objectives and importance in their own communities and so on.
Appealing activities need to be organised to gain the young audiences’ attention.
What does clean energy mean to you?
For me, clear energy is renewable energy, it is something that is completely eco-friendly and does not harm the environment. For example wind, solar and geothermal energy, these energy provide absolutely no pollution, which means no global warming emissions, in addition to a clean future ahead of us.
What interests you about clean energy and the environment?
What interest me the most about clean energy that, it uses all natural resources rather than the harmful gases which cause global warming and pollution, clean energy also keeps the environment around us clean and non-polluted. It is something that we can sustain for the future and it is ensuring that generations to come are able to reap the benefits of technology as well as clean nurturing environment.
How do you think we should get young people to get involved in clean energy and caring for the environment?
There are three steps:
- To create awareness through campaigns, workshops and to make them understand the significance and the pros and cons of the meaning behind why we need a sustainable and clean environment.
- To then provide opportunities for them to create and innovate and provide solutions, to find out new ways to support the objective.
- To establish links between the young innovators with the policy makers and organizations like DEWA, to enable the creative innovative ideas and to transform into reality.
What does clean energy mean to you?
1) To me, clean energy is the use of renewable energy resources such as wind mills and solar panels over the use of fossil fuels which release toxic amounts of carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions.
What interests you about clean energy and the environment?
2) The concept of having an almost limitless supply of energy which also happens to be more environmentally friendly than fossil fuels that are currently being used is what made me interested in clean energy. What interests me about the environment is the fact that it is the habitat for not only us humans, but also every single living species in the world. If we, the more influential and functioning members of society don’t do anything to protect this habitat, it could possibly be permanently destroyed, at the same time harming millions of other species. So, I feel that it is my duty to protect and ensure our environment is a clean and healthy living space for all, and promoting the use of clean energy is a good place to start at.
How do you think we should get young people to get involved in clean energy and caring for the environment?

Q3) How do you think we should get young people to get involved in clean energy and caring for the environment?
To get young people involved in clean energy by creating awareness through various campaigns, which can be circulated in social media. Environmental education is a must, right from the young age, so that knowledge gets embedded intensely as we grow up to be educated adults.
These environmentally oriented adults will definitely be conscious enough to educate their community about caring for the environment.
2) What does clean energy mean to you?
The term clean energy or renewable energy is energy that is collected from renewable resources, that are naturally replenished example, wind, rain, tides, and waves.
2) What interests you about clean energy and the environment.
I find it interesting how people remove things that pollute the earth and resort to cleaner alternatives, for example, instead of normal crackers we have eco-friendly crackers.
3) How do you think we should get young people to get involved in clean energy and caring for the environment?
We can get people involved in clean energy by the following ways:
1. Awareness – is the main aspect, because if young people are not aware of the consequences of an unhealthy environment they will not see any reason for acting.
2. Through school– we can perform clean energy through school by engaging ourselves in various activities.
3. General day to day activities – engaging ourselves in the day to day activities can benefit the earth.
4. Replacing – switching things that harm the earth to eco-friendly alternatives

What does clean energy mean to you?
Clean energy at its simplest definition is energy derived from natural processes, such as sunlight and wind. It can effectively meet the needs of the present without harming our environment and compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Thus, clean energy to me is the future of our world.
What interests you about clean energy and the environment?
I am fascinated by how we can extract energy from natural resources such as the sun and wind, to power the machines we use in our daily lives. It’s astonishing that solar power may account for the world’s main energy source of power by 2050. I am truly amazed by what us humans can do, especially if it’s for the betterment of our future.
How do you think we should get young people to get involved in clean energy and caring for the environment?
In these times of new technologies, it is more important than ever to pay attention to sustainability. We can no longer live like we don’t care about what happens in the future because by now we should know better. This is especially important when it comes to cities and communities.
However, it is disconcerting to know that young people are not aware or even fazed by the consequences of climate change despite thousands of new studies that keep piling up the evidence about the threat and actual physical evidence occurring every day, people still aren’t taking action based on those facts–and some still don’t believe them.
Consequently, this makes people feel powerless to do anything about it; and the psychological defenses that people have to avoid feeling guilty about their own contributions to fossil fuel emissions.
I propose that we advocate to local schools to start organizing more appealing activities and initiatives in order to encourage young people of today to be more aware of the threatening consequences of Global Warming.
Moreover, we should motivate more people to start using biodegradable items in schools, work places and anywhere possible (for example: paper bags and eliminating the use of plastic spoons and forks).
In addition, I suggest that we assign conservation and environmental leaders across schools to further invigorate them in making a change for the better.
